Natural Sciences Scholarships
Scholarships offered by WNMU Foundation for Natural Science students.

Application

The WNMU Foundation is pleased to offer several scholarships for deserving students majoring in the Natural Sciences. Applications must be submitted before March 1st.

Scholarships

Jesse Bingaman Science Scholarship

  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • Recipient must be a full-time student majoring in one of the Sciences
  • Student must demonstrate aptitude to pursue a career in a scientific field
  • Recipients must have demonstrated financial need
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA

Bruce Hayward Biology Merit Scholarship

  • Recipients must be in their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Recipient must be majoring in Biology, Botany or Zoology

Ralph A. Fisher, Jr. Scholarship

  • The recipients must be residents of the State of New Mexico
  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • Recipient must be majoring in Biology, Botany, Zoology or Forestry/Wildlife
  • Recipients must maintain at minimum a 3.2 GPA

Terry Heiner Scholarship

  • Qualified candidates must be majoring in one of the natural science programs
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA

 

Ida Mitchell Moore Scholarship

  • The recipients must be residents of the State of New Mexico
  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • Qualified candidates must be majoring in one of the natural science programs
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA

Ken Ladner Science Scholarship

  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Recipient must be degree-seeking and majoring in Chemistry or Physical Science.
  • Recipients will have an expressed interest in science education.

Robert W. Sevy Science Scholarship

  • Qualified candidates must be majoring in one of the Natural Science programs
  • Recipients must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Nancy & Jerry Strickling Scholarship

  • Recipients must be majoring in Biology
  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • Recipients must have at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Recommendations from teachers and counselors required

Eric Scott Kennedy Memorial Scholarship

  • Recipient must be a Natural Science major, Forestry/Wildlife preferred
  • Recipient must be a Junior or Senior
  • Recipient must have a least a 3.0 GPA

Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Society Scholarship

  • Qualified candidates must be majoring in one of the Natural Science programs with a minor in Geology
  • Recipients must be undergraduate students
  • Recipients must have at least a 2.5 GPA

Town & Country Garden Club Scholarship

  • Recipients must be majoring in Biology, Botany, Zoology, Forestry/ Wildlife or a related field approved by the Town and Country Garden Club scholarship committee
  • At minimum, students must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Preference will be given to students entering their junior or senior year
  • Transfer students are eligible

Town & Country Garden Club Scholarship (Freshman only)

  • Grant County high school female graduates (Silver, Cobre, Cliff, Opportunity, or Aldo Leopold)
  • Recipients must have an earned high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Recipients must be majoring in Biology, Botany, Zoology, Forestry/Wildlife or a related field approved by the  Town and Country Garden Club scholarship committee
  • Awardees must have a high school GPA of 3.0, and first semester WNMU GPA of 3.0 or higher to continue the scholarship for the second semester
